Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device – there is no server that could see it. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works offline.

What changes inside the font?

Nothing. WOFF2 is only a container: every table – outlines, hinting, kerning, OpenType features, names – is copied byte for byte and merely compressed or decompressed. No outline is redrawn and no feature is dropped.

How much smaller does the file get?

WOFF2 compresses with Brotli plus a special glyph encoding. Expect roughly 30 % less than WOFF and 50–70 % less than the raw TTF/OTF; fonts with many glyphs shrink most.

How do I use the WOFF2 file on my website?

Put the file next to your CSS and declare it with @font-face: src: url("font.woff2") format("woff2"). Our @font-face generator writes that rule for you, including weight, style and unicode-range.

Does converting change the licence?

No. The font remains the same work under the same licence, including the licence text stored in its name table. Whether you may use it on the web or on a desktop is decided by that licence, not by the file format.
