Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device – there is no server that could see it. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works offline.
What is the difference between WAV and OGG?
WAV is uncompressed audio – perfect quality, very large files. OGG is an open container, usually holding Vorbis or Opus audio.
Does the audio lose quality?
OGG is a lossy format. At 192 kbit/s the difference to the original is inaudible for almost everyone; choose 320 kbit/s if in doubt. Converting one lossy format into another loses a little more each time, so keep the original.
Are tags such as title and artist kept?
Text tags (title, artist, album, year) are carried over where the target format supports them – all formats except WAV do. Embedded cover art is dropped.
How fast is it?
Audio is quick: a three-minute song converts in a few seconds once the engine (about 32 MB, loaded once per visit) is ready. Files up to 100 MB are accepted.
