Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device – there is no server that could see it. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works offline.
Does the voice get higher or lower?
No. FFmpeg's atempo filter stretches time and keeps the pitch, so a podcast at 1.5× still sounds natural. Up to about 1.5× the artefacts are barely audible; at 2× speech is still clear, music less so.
Is the file re-encoded?
Yes – the sound cannot be changed without decoding it. Lossy formats (MP3, OGG, M4A, AAC) are re-encoded at 192 kbit/s, which is inaudible for practically everyone; WAV and FLAC stay lossless.
How fast is it?
Audio is quick: a three-minute song converts in a few seconds once the engine (about 32 MB, loaded once per visit) is ready. Files up to 100 MB are accepted.
