Convert CSV to JSON
Turns a CSV table into a JSON array, with automatic separator detection.
Runs in your browser – your file is never uploaded
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device – there is no server that could see it. Once the page has loaded, the tool even works offline.
How is the column separator detected?
We count commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes outside quotes in the first lines and pick the one that appears consistently. Excel in German, French or Italian settings uses semicolons; if the result looks like one giant column, choose the separator yourself.
What does the header row option do?
With it on, the first row becomes the keys: [{"id": 1, "name": "Anna"}, …]. Empty column names become “column3” and so on. With it off you get an array of arrays with every row as it is.
Are quotes and line breaks inside cells handled?
Yes. Cells in double quotes may contain the separator, line breaks and doubled quotes (""), as RFC 4180 defines. Windows (CRLF) and Unix (LF) line endings both work.
